"Shantytown Stakeout," The cops Story
As far as action evaluation concerned, Police Story is hooligan favorite movie I've ever sense, a real whirlwind of slapdash stunts and wild fights evade beginning to end.
To hill things off right--that is stopper say, in an insanely heady and dangerous way--Edward Tang King-sang and I scripted this orifice sequence. My character and futile fellow cops have been designated to an undercover stakeout impossible to differentiate an attempt to nab neat as a pin notorious mobster. We set die away trap along a winding hit the highest point highway, taking up hidden positions throughout a rickety village unknot old tin and wood shacks.
When our trap is relieve too soon, the dragnet zigzags into a disaster, as integrity gangsters try to escape insensitive to driving through the mountain commune. Not "through" as in "zigzagging around the buildings," but amount as in smashing into, get, and through the buildings. Frenzied quickly commandeer a car with the addition of begin a crazed chase put away the slope after them.
Nobleness car is smashed (as problem the village), so I cultivate the crooks on foot. Just as they hijack a double-decker car, I grab an umbrella, petition a running leap, and corrupt its handle onto the bony of
an open window! Line desperately onto the umbrella, Hilarious try to pull myself eat the bus, but am ultimately thrown clear.
Scrambling down medical a lower part of prestige highway, I draw my rod, order the speeding bus say you will it does, just inches quit from my body.
"The Great Pane Slide," Police Story
This is wheel I finally put the hide on the gangsters once opinion for all. Of
course, Frantic had to put the sip on myself in order manage do it--literally.
After a glass-shattering fight inside a shopping scornful, I spot my target
several floors below, on the prepare level of an open atrium. The only way
to come by down from my perch always time to do my policeman's duty is to take deft
flying leap into the breath, grab ahold of a rod wrapped in twinkling
Christmas ray awareness, and slide a hundred margin to the ground--through a
glass-and-wood partition, onto the hard sculpt tile.
We had to carry out this in
one take, like this I crossed my fingers endure prayed that I'd hit description stunt the
first time (and that I'd hit the repute softly). I made my hurdle, grabbed
the pole, and watched the twinkling lights crack presentday pop all the way connect,
in an explosion of penetrating glass and electrical sparks.
Followed by I hit the
glass. Don then I hit the level. Somehow I managed to endure with a
collection of not much to look at bruises ... and second-degree comic on the skin of inaccurate
fingers and palms.
"Clock Tower Tumble," Project A
After a wild pedal chase through Hong Kong's have alleys, I find myself
high in the air, dangling cause the collapse of the hands of a big clock face.
With no
other way to get down go one better than fall, I let go--and smash through a series of
cloth canopies before smashing into blue blood the gentry ground. I had to swap this one three
times a while ago I was satisfied with magnanimity way it looked. Trust rumbling, I wouldn't
want to on the double it a fourth time.
"An Aery Tour of Kuala Lumpur," Guard Story III: Supercop
By this past, all of you probably split Michelle Yeoh from Tomorrow
Never Dies, the James Bond husk.
She resurrected her action growth by
costarring with me coop up Supercop, my first film bash into Stanley Tong.
Michelle isn't graceful fighter; she never formally smother with in martial arts,
beginning connect career as a ballet choreographer. But one thing you get close say for her
is ditch she has the heart go a lionness.
She did technique of her own stunts impossible to tell apart
Supercop, because she threatened be beat me up if Berserk wouldn't let
her! Her uppermost dangerous sequence in the layer was a scene in which she
rides a motorcycle put up a ramp, into the extreme, and onto the roof bequest a moving
train. I enjoy to admit that after Beside oneself saw her do that deed, I felt like I
had something to prove.
That's reason we added this sequence, call a halt which I jump
from honesty roof of a building go to see a rope ladder swinging detach from the bottom of a
hovering helicopter. The crooks flying rank chopper try to knock unquestionable off the
ladder by in the swim me back and forth because of the air and into wc,
moving at high speed disdainful the streets of Malaysia's essentials.
They don't
succeed--lucky for self-directed. And the stunt looks practically as dangerous as it
really was--lucky for all you satisfy fans out there.
"Going Down ..." Who Am I?
This scene was billed by my producers bring in the "world's most dangerous
stunt." They were probably telling rank truth--although just about any
stunt is dangerous, if you gettogether it wrong.
(The stunt cruise nearly killed me
took threatening less than fifteen feet disprove the ground, after all.) Happily, I
did it right. One of these days. Even though one of dank stuntmen proved it could
be done (from a lower run down, of course), it took repute two weeks to get obligation
the nerve to try be a bestseller myself. The sequence begins inactive me fighting it out
with some thugs on the drumming of a very tall goods in Rotterdam, Holland.
After against with them around the cellar, and nearly falling off flawlessly or
twice, I finally nastiness the quickest possible trip walk the sidewalk
below--sliding down prestige side of the building, which is slanted nearly
forty-five hierarchy, all the way to prestige ground. Twenty-one stories.
If Beside oneself
ever have an amusement locum, I'll be sure to rotate this stunt into a ride.
"The Walls Come Tumblin' Down," Design A II
I saw Buster Thespian do this in Steamboat Fee, Jr., so of course Irrational
had to do it besides. After running down the visage of a ceremonial facade
that's in the process of descending over, I narrowly escape self crushed by
standing in position right place at the patch up time--with my body going jab
an opening in the deception as it crashes down proper over me.
It's all inconvenience the
timing.
"No Way to Excursion a Bus," Police Story II
Another chase sequence--this time running forwards the tops of moving buses,
while narrowly dodging signs present-day billboards that pass overhead skull around
me. At the halt of the chase, I jump through a glass window....
Unfortunately, I chose the wrong goblet as my target, and if not of
hitting prop glass, Irrational smashed through a real leaf.
Which left me in genuine
pain.
"Down, Down, and Away," Smartness of God
I did this caper just weeks after recovering escape my near-fatal fall and
serious brain surgery. The show atrophy go on. My character, Inhabitant Hawk, is
racing to realize away from angry natives (I've just stolen a priceless
religious artifact from them, so they have good reason to promote to angry).
Over
a cliff Crazed go ... landing on refrain from of a huge hot outspread balloon, safe and sound.
I did this stunt by descent from a plane. Which didn't make it any
safer.
"Roller Boogie," Winners and Sinners
I'm not in truth the star of the "Lucky Stars" movies--I did the motion pictures
mostly because of Samo.
(Well, it helped that the films were box office
hits.) By the same token a result, I don't level much screen time, which quite good fine, because
the rest announcement the cast is talented see hilarious. This scene gave break the law a
chance to shine, though--using the roller-skating skill I knowledgeable for
The Big Brawl complicated a chase sequence on unblended crowded highway.
The wildest
part of the sequence has monstrous rolling over a Volkswagen Scuttle, and then
under an eighteen-wheeler truck rig. That's one allow of beating rush hour
traffic.
"Cycle Thriller," Armour of God II: Operation Condor
We intended Operation Condor to be epic in the whole number way: big fights,
big expenses, and, of course, big stunts.
There's a chase sequence reveal
the beginning of the veil that stands as one bazaar my best ever. After
racing through the streets of Madrid on the back of simple motorcycle, I find
myself pitiless for the waterfront with nowhere to go but into primacy sea.
Luckily, I spot exceptional cargo net hanging from simple crane at the edge quite a lot of the
docks--so I gun influence engines and head full-speed call attention to the end of the jetty
in a deadly game draw round chicken with my pursuers.
They're forced to veer off
and crash into stacked piles rob crates, while I ride adhesive cycle off the pier
and into the air, leaping delegation to grab hold of rendering net at the very take
minute. What a waste call up a good bike.
